On January 18, Dr. Robert Schneider, Director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi International University (MIU) recently met with University of Iowa (UI) health officials Dr. Denise Jamieson and Dr. Edith Parker to explore new collaborations connecting integrative and conventional medicine. They discussed practical steps for joint work between MIU, UI Health Care, and Total Health Centers of Iowa City and identified three areas for cooperation: clinical care, education, and research. The UI leaders invited MIU to present its work to their faculty with a view to mapping out team-based care models, training opportunities for students and residents, and continuing medical education. The visit also highlighted MIU research, including published studies on Transcendental Meditation® program, stress reduction, and cardiovascular health.
