Dr. George Rutherford was one of the first educators to establish the Quiet Time program—a period at the beginning and end of each school day that allows the children to practice the Transcendental Meditation technique. As the principal and chief operating officer of the Fletcher-Johnson Educational Center in Washington, DC, he introduced the Transcendental Meditation technique to more than a thousand students and faculty in the mid-1990s. Dr. Rutherford has been in education for 45 years, and a principal for 35 years. He is currently the principal of Ideal Academy Public Charter School, an award-winning school located in the heart of Washington, DC. In this video, he speaks on the benefits of TM.
