Dr. Richard Beall, Head of School Emeritus of Maharishi School in Fairfield, IA, United States
Dr. Richard Beall has had a distinguished 40+ year career in education. In 1981 he and his wife Andrea helped establish Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, the first complete Preschool-Grade 12 system of Consciousness-Based Education (CBE) in the world. He has served as administrative director, teacher, coach, and principal, and Head of School for the past 16 years.
Dr. Beall earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and his Doctorate in Curriculum Development in 1996 at Maharishi International University. His dissertation was selected as the university’s most outstanding of the year.
In 2003 Dr. Beall founded Carolina International School, an award-winning public charter school near Charlotte, North Carolina. After guiding the school for four years, he returned to Maharishi School in 2008 when he was appointed Head of School. In the past 16 years Dr. Beall restored the school’s boarding program and oversaw significant changes to the school culture and functioning.
He is passionate about the field of education, with special interests in individual learning differences, global education, and the holistic effects of developing consciousness.
