“The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.”—TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
We are delighted to announce that Advanced Techniques of the TM program will be offered at the North Atlanta TM Center from February 15-February 16. Here are the details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are Advanced Techniques?
A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.
Q: How many are there?
A: There are four Advanced Techniques of the TM program that have been brought to light by TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Each Advanced Technique in its own way helps the mind become more familiar with the experience of pure consciousness, enriching our perception and enabling our thoughts and actions to spontaneously become more powerful, creative, and effective.
Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?
A: You learn them one at a time and in a sequence developed by Maharishi. Twice-daily practice of the TM technique for four or more months between Advanced Technique instructions is recommended, but two months of regular practice is a minimum requirement.
Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?
A: Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! It is recommended that you have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for the last four months before receiving an Advanced Technique, but two months of regular practice is a minimum requirement. If you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.
Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?
A: You will learn from specially trained, highly experienced Certified TM Teachers. Frances and Charles DeBray will be the Advanced Technique instructors for the upcoming course. They have been Directors of the Nashville TM Center since 1979. Charles is also the Southeastern Executive Regional Director for the U.S. TM organization. They will be present at each session for instruction and verification of your practice.
Q: What is the Advanced Technique Course structure?
A: The course consists of four parts:
- First, an Orientation Meeting (1½ hours). An Orientation Meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. If you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend an Orientation Meeting and then fill out an application form. Check with your TM Center whether the Orientation Meeting will be held in-person or online.
- Second, watching several Advanced Technique preparatory videos by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Dr. Tony Nader, head of nonprofit TM programs around the world. These talks discuss the value of the Advanced Techniques of TM and how they help hasten the development of higher states of consciousness.
- Third, Personal Instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
- Fourth, a Checking Meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)
Q: Where can I view the Advanced Technique videos?
A: The Advanced Technique introductory videos can be watched online at your own pace in the following two ways:
- View the videos in the TM app on your phone.
- The TM app is available for verified TM meditators in the Apple Store (iPhone) or on Google Play (Android).
- Within the TM app, go to Library > Learn > Level 2 (scroll) > TM Advanced Techniques.
- If you prefer to watch these videos on your computer or tablet, you may register for the free Advanced Technique Course on the Maharishi European Research University (MERU) website.
