ABOUT DR. PATTY J. LEE, M.D.
Patty J. Lee, M.D., is a nationally recognized medical researcher and professor of medicine. She is currently a professor of pulmonary medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, one of America’s leading medical research centers.
Dr. Lee received her bachelor’s and medical degrees from Brown University, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she remained for fellowship training in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
From 1998 to 2019, Dr. Lee was an instructor at Yale School of Medicine. She was then recruited by Duke University School of Medicine as Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care.
Dr. Lee’s career as a physician-scientist led to discoveries that have developed new paradigms in understanding innate immune signaling, an important component of the immune system. During her tenure at Duke, despite COVID-19, she expanded her research by spearheading interdisciplinary projects while building teams of scientists, project managers, coordinators, and trainees to implement significant, well-funded research awards.
Currently, as a major part of her work at the Icahn School of Medicine, Dr. Lee is building and leading the project for the new IDEAS Center—the Institute for Interdisciplinary Experimental Aging Sciences.
