Long-time TM® Teacher Nathan (Nat) Goldhaber will share his journey, from meeting TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1965 and working directly with him, to teaching the TM technique, to working in education, politics, and business. He will share stories from his years with Maharishi and his inspiration for Maharishi to create Maharishi International University (MIU), which opened its doors in 1972. He will also discuss highlights of his vast, successful, and fulfilling career.
ABOUT NAT GOLDHABER
Nat Goldhaber taught the TM technique in California, Kansas, and Missouri in the 1970s. In 1976, he wrote TM: An Alphabetical Guide to the Transcendental Meditation Program with Denise Denniston Gerace and Peter McWilliams. From 1979 to 1982, he worked as special assistant to Lieutenant Governor William Scranton III in Pennsylvania, and later was the interim director of the state’s energy agency. He left government to build a career in high technology and founded his first company, Centram Systems Inc., which developed networking for personal computers. Mr. Goldhaber was the founder and chief executive of Transcendental Operating System, a computer networking company that he sold to Sun Microsystems in 1987 for $20 million. He subsequently served as vice president of Sun Microsystems.
In 1989, Mr. Goldhaber became the president of Cole, Gilburne, Goldhaber, and Ariyoshi Management, a venture capital firm specializing in high technology for computers. In 1992, IBM and Apple Computer, Inc., appointed Mr. Goldhaber president and founding CEO of their joint multimedia venture Kaleida Labs. In 1995, he became the founding CEO of Cybergold, an internet marketing and payment system that went public in 1999 and was acquired by MyPoints.com, Inc., in August 2000 in a deal worth about $160 million.
In 2005, Mr. Goldhaber co-founded Oakland-based Claremont Creek Ventures, specializing in clean energy and healthcare investments in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the globe. He currently serves as managing director. In 2011, AOL.com named him a resident expert at Claremont Creek Ventures on energy conservation and management systems and one of the “Top Five Clean Energy Venture Capitalists and Principals” in the U.S.
Mr. Goldhaber is currently on the Board of Directors for DNAnexus, an Emeritus member of the Board of the National Academy of Sciences, CEO of the National Pacific Fund, Inc., and Special Deputy Sheriff of the Air Squadron for the Sheriff of San Francisco. He is a member of the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force and an Airline Transport Pilot. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of MIU.
