Jon Lipman, longtime practitioner and teacher of Transcendental Meditation, discusses his career in Maharishi Vedic (Vastu) architecture and how the TM and TM-Sidhi programs support his creative process. He shares personal stories from his work in Vastu architecture, including designing buildings at Maharishi International University and a current project for a Bhutanese refugee community in Ohio, featuring a Tibetan Buddhist temple with a three-dimensional mandala. ABOUT JON LIPMAN, AIA
Jon Lipman, AIA, is a leading U.S. practitioner of Vedic (Vastu) architecture, with a distinguished career spanning design, historic preservation, museum curation, and academia. A New York Times–praised author, he has devoted the past 29 years exclusively to Maharishi Vastu® architecture, becoming one of North America’s most experienced experts in applying its principles.
Mr. Lipman has lectured widely at major universities, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, and Cornell, as well as at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the National Building Museum, and the Smithsonian. He has also spoken at national conferences and public forums, including the American Institute of Architects and programs supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
He is a contributing author to Vastu Homes and Enlightened Real Estate, and his book Frank Lloyd Wright and the Johnson Wax Buildings is considered a highly respected study of Wright’s work. Lipman is recognized as a leading authority on Wright’s architecture of the 1930s.
In addition to curating exhibitions for major museums, Jon has worked on prominent historic preservation projects and served as a consulting architect for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. His award-winning work has been widely published, and he studied at Cornell University.
