ABOUT THE WEBINAR
Ken Buhler, an American artist in painting, drawing, and printmaking, will discuss his creative process and the impact of his TM® practice on his work and life. He will also talk about teaching art for 22 years at one of America’s most renowned institutions, Bard College in New York, where he is now professor emeritus.
ABOUT KEN BUHLER
Ken Buhler has exhibited widely in New York City and throughout the United States and Europe since the late 1980s, including solo exhibitions at Lesley Heller Gallery, O’Hara Gallery, Michael Walls Gallery, and the Beach Museum of Art. His work has been reviewed in many publications, including The New York Times, Arts, ARTnews, Art in America, and other publications. Mr. Buhler’s work can be seen in many public and private collections, including the Wichita Art Museum, the de Saisset Museum, the Ulrich Museum of Art, Santa Clara University, the Maslow Collection, and the IBM Collection.
Mr. Buhler has been awarded numerous grants and fellowships from noted institutions, among them the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts. He has been a fellow at MacDowell, JentelArts, Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, and Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland.
Art critic Roberta Smith has written in The New York Times that Ken Buhler’s paintings “are beautifully made and distinguished by an ambition to reduce nature to a state of luminous abstraction.”
Mr. Buhler is a Professor Emeritus in the Studio Arts program at Bard College. He lives and works in Brooklyn and in Masonville, NY. He has been practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique throughout his adult life.
