ABOUT ERIC SCERRI, PH.D.
Dr. Eric Scerri is a widely noted historian and philosopher of chemistry. He is also founder and editor-in-chief of Foundations of Chemistry, an international, peer-reviewed academic journal, covering the history and philosophy of chemistry and chemical education. In addition, he is a lecturer in chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where, over the past 22 years, he has taught more than 20,000 undergraduate students.
Dr. Scerri is considered a world authority on the history and philosophy of the periodic table. He was also a participant in the 2014 Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) documentary The Mystery of Matter.
In November 2020, Dr. Scerri was named the second most influential scholar in the field of chemistry of the last decade. He is the author of a dozen books, most of them published by Oxford University Press, and of more than 100 articles in professional journals and popular magazines, like Scientific American and the American Scientist. He frequently lectures internationally.
