Bob Roth will host a virtual Town Hall, providing an update on new research on the transformational effects of the TM program being experienced by those suffering from post-traumatic stress.
Sharing their perspectives on the TM technique’s impact on military veterans with PTS will be James “Spider” Marks, Retired U.S. Army Major General and current military analyst for CNN, and Lisa Beatha, U.S Army Veteran and Director of Veterans Affairs for the City University of New York.
About James A. “Spider” Marks
James A. “Spider” Marks is a retired U.S. Army Major General and an on-air national security military intelligence contributor to CNN. He is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. General Marks is a 1975 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and an honors graduate of the U.S. Army’s Ranger School. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star, and multiple combat, expeditionary, and service ribbons.
About Lisa Beatha
Lisa Beatha is the director of Veterans Affairs at the City University of New York (CUNY). She served in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War and trained as an army medic at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. In her role as the university’s director of Veterans Affairs, Ms. Beatha is responsible for supporting the 3,000 veterans enrolled in CUNY and facilitates their transition from military to student life.
Ms. Beatha is also charged with advancing CUNY’s commitment to student veterans’ access to educational resources and success in their post-deployment education and careers. To do this, she promotes collaboration and partnership within and across campuses, as well as between CUNY and community partners.
Ms. Beatha is particularly passionate about the issues that women veterans face, and the enhancement of programs and services for all of CUNY’s veterans and their family members.
