World-famous sitarist Reshma Srivastava has been a musician since the age of six. At 16, she met TM® Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the Netherlands, and she describes his grandfatherly influence on her life. She also discusses the uplifting value of Maharishi Gandharva Veda® music for creating balance in nature, better health, happiness, and peace, as well as her passion for spreading this knowledge worldwide. She also talks about the personal and artistic benefits she receives from her TM and TM-Sidhi® practice. She concludes with a beautiful raga to create a soothing and positive influence for our audience and the environment.
ABOUT MAHARISHI MAHESH YOGI
Hailing from Allahabad, India, renowned sitarist Reshma Srivastava inherited her musical gift from her family, especially her father, tabla maestro and author, Professor Girish Chandra Srivastava. She began her lifelong journey in music under the guidance of her father and her uncle, Professor Satish Chandra Srivastava, a disciple of the famed sitar player Pandit Ravi Shankar. In addition to her traditional music education, she earned a master’s degree in music from the University of Allahabad, India.
Ms. Srivastava’s A-grade talent and mastery of the sitar are showcased in her live concerts on All India Radio and television. An internationally acclaimed musician, she enthralls audiences worldwide with her life-supporting Maharishi Gandharva Veda music, playing ancient Indian classics that focus on the rhythms and melodies of nature to promote harmony, balance, and well-being.
