Musician, composer, producer, and author Jimmy Ryan will discuss his 60-year career in the music industry, working with some of the leading popular musicians of our time. He will also explain how much his 50-year practice of the TM technique has meant to his long, successful, and increasingly joyful career.
ABOUT JIMMY RYAN
Jimmy Ryan began his music career in the 1960s with the hit band The Critters. He has collaborated, sung, played, and recorded with many leading musicians, including Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Rod Stewart, Jim Croce, Elton John, The Doors, Tommy James, Jimmy Webb, and Andy Williams.
Mr. Ryan was Carly Simon’s guitarist for 21 years as a soloist on the Academy Award-winning song “Let the River Run,” a bassist and vocalist on “Anticipation,” and a guitarist and soloist on “You’re So Vain.” In 2022, he performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with triple Grammy Award winner Olivia Rodrigo, as part of Carly Simon’s Induction Ceremony.
In September 2023, he was inducted into the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame, receiving their Lifetime Achievement Award. He has scored music for TV, including daytime CNBC financial shows, the launch of MSNBC, the Discovery and History channels, and created the theme for New York’s NBC News. He has also written music for major exhibitions at The Smithsonian Institution.
Mr. Ryan’s book The Superstar Chronicles—Tales of Life among Rock Royalty is a classic of the genre.
