Sandy Haas and her son Matt Haas will talk about the importance of TM practice for young adults and their parents. They will discuss the life-changing effects of gaining greater self-awareness and achieving more fulfillment in life.
ABOUT SANDRA HAAS
Sandra Haas is a longtime board member and mentor at Read Ahead, a reading-based mentoring program for elementary school students. She is also a member of the President’s Council of Cornell Women, a group of highly accomplished Cornell University alumnae working to enhance women’s roles at the university.
Ms. Haas is the founder and president of SMH Management, an asset management consultancy firm, focusing on strategy, product development, marketing, and talent acquisition. She is currently partnered with Troob Capital Management’s Tactical Opportunities Funds, raising capital and sourcing investments for capital needs. Ms. Haas was previously a managing director at Easterly Capital, a partner at Perella Weinberg Partners, and deputy head of their asset management business. She also held key positions at Morgan Stanley and Deloitte & Touche.
Ms. Haas holds a bachelor’s degree in government and Near East studies from Cornell University and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business. She has been a dedicated TM meditator since she began the TM technique in 2014.
ABOUT MATTHEW HAAS
Matthew Haas is a 19-year-old currently on a gap year between high school and college. He was born and raised in New York City and spent last fall in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, working as an intern for a startup. He loves watching films, going to museums, and seeing his favorite artists in concert. As a lifelong skier, he is currently working on the mountains of Park City, Utah, and skis or enjoys Sundance screenings whenever he has a day off.
This spring, Mr. Haas plans to complete his gap year with volunteer work in a field he is passionate about. After, he will attend McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he looks forward to pursuing interests in philosophy, psychology, and art. After learning the Transcendental Meditation® technique a year ago, he has become an avid practitioner and advocate of the technique.
