Harvard MBA graduate Jim Belilove discusses the life path that shaped his work and values—from learning Transcendental Meditation in 1969 in his hometown of Berkeley, California, to helping build Maharishi International University in its early years and later forging a career as an entrepreneur. His ventures include founding Creative Edge Master Shop and Sunnybrook Assisted Living, as well as producing a documentary film about a World War II pilot’s journey toward healing and reconciliation.
ABOUT JIM BELILOVE
Jim Belilove, a long-time practitioner and Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique, was among the first to arrive at Maharishi International University, Fairfield, Iowa, in 1974. Serving as Director of Public Relations, he played a key role in building the relationship between the town of Fairfield and Maharishi International University.
In 1988, Mr. Belilove founded Creative Edge Master Shop, pioneering the use of computer-controlled waterjet technology for custom architectural stone flooring. The firm completed high-profile installations at sites that included O’Hare International Airport, the World of Coca-Cola, and the Kennedy Space Center. Under his leadership, the company earned a Pinnacle Award for Marble and became recognized for its environmentally responsible fabrication practices.
In the early 2000s, Mr. Belilove co-founded Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Southeast Iowa, a residence dedicated to supporting residents with physical and memory challenges while fostering independence, dignity, and individuality. In 2021, he produced the documentary Jerry’s Last Mission, chronicling WWII pilot Jerry Yellin’s life and experience of PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and eventual healing after learning the TM technique.
